CGI / Rendering
Some assorted odds & ends. Primarily rendered in Keyshot. Models created in Solidworks, Fusion 360, Blender, and Unreal Engine.
Render Weekly x KeyShot 3D Paint Challenge
Utilizing a new tool release in Keyshot, this challenge was all about using the material graph to bring objects to life. As this was entirely a rendering challenge based on the material graph, I decided to use a single-part (body) model and mask everything to both challenge myself, and to explore the capabilities that this tool provides. Contest result: runner-up.
Driveforce | powder disolving in water
How can I simulate this drink powder mixing in water? Capturing it on camera requires an expensive camera and lengthy prep work. Through tons of simulation tests in Blender, than material studies in Keyshot, I came to a solution that would allow the client to have faster, editable, and lower cost versions of this sought-after shot. I was also curious and driven, as I couldn’t seem to find a CGI example or solution for this online.
Kintsugi study | keyshot x Frauhaus competition
Kinstugi is the traditional Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics with metal. One could physically model the fractures, but that would make iteration, and randomness of cracks very difficult to achieve. So creating this entirely with materials rather than modeling creates a more editable process. As time has progressed since my studies, we continue to see Kintsugi as a material challenge among other CGI artists. Contest result - first place.

stratasys x keyshot | bottle competition 2021
Starting with only a simple model, contestants were tasked with transforming the bottle within Keyshot. All models had to retain tolerances according to Stratasys 3D printer specifications. Aside from materials, geometry, and opacity nodes were key. Contest result: runner-up.
